The Achenbach Canyon trailhead is located about 10 miles east of New Mexico State University. This out-and-back trail is about 3.5 miles and with scenic views and steep inclines and is available for hiking only. There are no ammenities at this trailhead. Please note that the short Jeep road to the trailhead is located on private property; visitors should only park in the parking area at the end of the road.

Aguirre Springs Recreation Area is located on the east side of the Organ Mountains, about 21 miles east of Las Cruces. The Recreation Area has 55 campsites with shade structures and picnic tables, and vault toilets. There is a $5 per vehicle day-use fee to access this trailhead.

This parking area allows access to the city of Las Cruces' non-motarized Armijo Lateral Trail.
Baylor Canyon Pass
This 6-mile trail is located in the Organ Mountains. There are two trailheads, one at the Aguirre Springs Recreation Area and the other on Baylor Canyon Road, about 10 miles from Las Cruces. There are no ammenities at the Baylor Canyon Road trailhead.

This 900-acre park located about 10 miles northeast of Las Cruces in the Dona Ana Mountains. The park is operated by the Asombro Institute for Science Education and is perfect for families, offering about 2 miles of easy trails with interpretative signs about the Chihuahuan Desert ecology and a short accessible trail. There are shade structures available for use and restrooms that are open only when staff is at the park. Admission is free and hours are Tuesday - Sunday 7am-5pm.

This 34 acre park offers a mixture of paved and unpaved walking and biking trails, dog bag stations, drinking fountains and interpretive signage.
Dona Ana Mountains (Desert Wind Way)
The Dona Ana Mountains are located about 5 miles north of Las Cruces, and offer hiking, biking, equestrian and OHV trails. There are no ammenities at this trailhead.
